Group Classes

While we believe that individualized attention and customized wellness programs are important, we love the sense of community and village-building that comes with groups classes. We offer classes for mothers and expectant mothers about what to eat (and what to avoid) while pregnant, what and when to eat while breastfeeding, how to prepare for your return to work, and how to turn your weaning tot into a healthy eater.

Prenatal Nutrition

Whether you are pregnant, or hoping to become pregnant, come learn about how nutrition affects you at every stage of pregnancy. Find out how much and how often you really need to eat during pregnancy, what food and ingredients you should avoid or limit, and what vitamins & minerals are while growing your baby. We will also discuss healthy weight gain, simple meal & snack prep, and how to make healthy choices despite cravings, hormones, nausea, and heartburn are telling you to do otherwise.

Breastfeeding Nutrition
and Weaning

Eating for Breastfeeding may be completely different than eating while pregnant. What remains the same is the need for nutrient dense, low fat foods. Based on the research of The Breastfeeding Chef, we will discuss foods and ingredients that may limit milk supply, as well as foods that help to increase milk supply. We will debunk some myths around breastfeeding nutrition, and we will validate others... maybe. We will talk weight control, sugar cravings, snacking, food prep, and more. This class is for anyone who is breastfeeding, or plans to breastfeed.

Second Tuesday of the Month at Whole Foods, Germantown, TN at 6:30 p.m.

Weaning Wonders
The process of weaning begins the moment that you introduce any food, other than breast milk, to the child. However, this process can last for more than a year. The American Academy of Pediatrics recommends waiting until 6 months to introduce solid foods, but even at that time, the primary source of nutrition is still natural or artificial breast milk. In this class, we will discuss cues for weaning readiness, the truth about purees, Baby-Led Weaning, diversifying the toddler palate, choosing healthy snacks, and how to avoid the pitfalls of toddler and kid marketing. This class is for anyone who is weaning or preparing to wean their child from the breast or bottle.

The Art of Expression:
Preparing for Your Return to Work

When a mother returns to work after having a child, she carries an entire wave of emotions. For the mother who is breastfeeding, she may have anxiety about maintaining her milk supply, be overwhelmed by pump choices, have questions about storage, and be concerned about break times and places for pumping while at work.

Other topics will include how to talk about breastfeeding with your employer and child care provider and how to know just how much milk your baby really needs.

In this popular class, we will help to address all of these concerns and more, to help make your transition back to work and your child's transition to child care a little easier.
